The big storm
In the beginning (God) Olofi created the earth and humans. He gave life to men and
women, but he forgot death. Many years passed and the men and women on earth became
older but nobody died. The earth was overpopulated by old people, who became thousands
of years old and stuck to their old laws. That did not please the young people at
all and they spoke to Olofi about this unfairness. Olofi saw that the earth did not
develop as beautifully as he had planned and decided to do something about it. He was
too old and tired to start again at the beginning and so he
called Okó, the rain god to discuss the problem.
Okó saw that the old people were immortal so he called the rain.
It rained for for 30 days and 30 nights uninterrupted and the earth transformed
into a rapid current without a river bank. Only the children and young people could
save themselves by climbing high trees and mountains.
After the long rain the young people saw that the earth was cleaned, pure and beautiful
and ran to Okó, in order to thank him because he ended immortality.
El aguacero A principio del mundo Olofi hizo el hombre y la mujer y les dio la vida. Olofi hizo la vida pero se lo olvidó hacer la muerte. Pasaron los años y los hombres y las mujeres cada vez se ponían más viejos pero no se morían. La tierra se llenó de viejos que tenían miles de años y que seguían mandando de acuerdo con sus viejas leyes. Tanto clamaron lo más jóvenes que un día sus clamores llegaron a los oidos de Olofi. Y Olofi vió que el mundo no era tan bueno como él lo había planeado y sintió que él también estaba viejo y cansado para volver a empezar. Entonces Olofi llamó a Okó para que se encargara del asunto. Okó vió que había que acabar con el tiempo en que la gente no moría. Entonces hizo que lloviera durante treinta días y treinta noches sin parar y todo fue quedando bajo el agua. Solo los niños y los más jovenes pudieran treparse en los árboles gigantes y subir a las montañas más altas. La tierra entera se convirtió en un gran río sin orillas. Los jóvenes vieron entonces que la tierra estaba más limpia y más bella y corrieron a darle gracias a Okó porque había acabado con la inmortalidad. Der grosse Regen Am Anfang erschuf Olofi (Gott) die Erde und die Menschen. Er schenkte Männern und Frauen das Leben, aber er vergass den Tod. Es vergingen viele Jahre und die Männer und Frauen auf dieser Erde wurden immer älter aber niemand starb. Die Erde war von Alten überbevölkert, die tausende von Jahren alt wurden und die an ihren alten Gesetzen festhielten. Das gefiel den jungen Leuten gar nicht und eines Tages sprachen sie bei Olofi vor, um sich über diese Ungerechtigkeit zu beschweren. Und Olofi sah, dass die Erde sich nicht so schön entwickelte wie er geplant hatte und er unbedingt etwas dagegen unternehmen musste. Er fühlte sich zu alt und zu müde um nochmals von Vorne zu beginnen und so rief er Okó, den Regengott zu sich, um mit ihm das Problem der Jugend zu besprechen. Okó sah, dass die alten Leute unsterblich waren und er rief den Regen. Während dreissig Tagen und dreissig Nächten regnete es ununterbrochen und die Erde verwandelte sich in einen reissenden Strom ohne Ufer. Nur die Kinder und jungen Leute konnten sich auf hohe Bäume und Berge retten. Nach dem grossen Regen sah die Jugend die Erde gesäubert, rein und schön und sie rannten zu Okó, um sich bei ihm zu bedanken, dass er der Unsterblichkeit ein Ende gesetzt hat. Designed and hosted by
